Reduce the use of energy and reduce the carbon footprint
Creating a new, climate-friendly energy future is a daunting task.
But in reality, small steps by many people will change the world and
protect the planet.
We made a short list of the things you can do today to make a difference. Many of the items listed below will save you money too. That’s right—you might even make a little green by being green.
We made a short list of the things you can do today to make a difference. Many of the items listed below will save you money too. That’s right—you might even make a little green by being green.
- Seal the deal. We waste a lot of energy inadvertently heating and cooling the outdoors. Fully close windows, weather strip, caulk gaps and holes and upgrade your insulation and windows when you renovate—you can save up to 20 percent on your annual heating and cooling costs.
- Recruit the best. Upgrade to high efficiency (ENERGY STAR) water heaters, AC units, lighting and appliances when it is time to replace old units—many of these upgrades even are available with substantial tax breaks!
- Surf. Many states, cities and utilities have programs that make up the cost difference between high-efficiency appliances and the average. Do a quick Internet search on your local utility Web site to see if there are such programs in your area. Energy saved is money saved.
- Set and forget it. A programmable thermostat reduces energy use by adjusting temperatures while you sleep or when you’re not home. Keep your home at 68 in the winter and 72 in the summer—just a few degrees can save you more than 10 percent on your heating bill.
- Put the bottle down. Bottled water and other highly packaged items contribute to landfills and emissions. Filter systems are cleaner and cheaper. Ninety percent of the cost of bottled water goes to the cap and bottle, making it 240 to 10,000 times more expensive than that of tap water!
- Designate a driver. Where possible, use public transportation or carpool. Better yet, walk or bike instead and enjoy the fresh air—studies show that getting out of your car makes you healthier and happier.
- Talk it up. Share what you do with your friends and coworkers. Let your public officials know that you care about climate issues and remember them in the voting booth.
- Plant trees, which absorb carbon dioxide
- Use rechargeable batteries
- Wash your clothes in cold or warm water
- Turn off the heated dry function on your dishwasher
- Change your light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)

Dream of last time
When I was lower form six, the future job that I hope to do is about recycling paper.
Why?
A student, atleast have 10kg of paper.
Let say, there are 500 hundred students in a school,
so there are 5000kg of paper.
Let say, in a states there are 20 schools,
there will be 100000KG of papers!!!
Is just a states only, not a country yet!
Not counting the newspaper, paper use in exam, book store, super market and other else.
TOO MANY, IT IS TOO MANY!
100000KG of papers, how many trees have been chopped down??
Last time, i was thinking how to change the used paper to other else.
we can recycle the paper and turn into new paper.
RECYCLE and CYCLE again.
there are a link about recycle paper. :)
http://www.conserve-energy-future.com/PaperRecycling.php
But I had change to art stream when i was upper six.
I take business because the result of lower six is too poor.
I HAVE FOUND OUT ANOTHER WAY ON CUT THE USAGE OF PAPER. LET AND VIEW AT THE NEWER POST.

How to preserve the environment
These are 7 simple habits to implement in your everyday life which will make a difference. There
is nothing new here but if you follow at least some of these tips,
you can be proud of yourself participating in the protection of the
environment.
I use to walk to class or walk back to room almost everyday, so i can preserve the environment and exercise.
- Use compact fluorescent light bulbs:
It is true that these bulbs are more expensive, but they last much longer and they can save energy and in the long term your electricity bill would be reduced. - Donate:
You have tons of clothes or things you want to get rid of. If they are still usable, give them to someone who needs them. You may also choose to give them to associations. These associations may sell them and collect a little money. Not only will you protect the environment, but you will also contribute to a good cause. - Turn off your devices:
When you do not use a house device, turn it off. For example, if you don't watch TV, turn it off. Turn off the light when you leave a room (even if you intend to return.) It's an easy habit to take up which will help you save a lot of money. - Walk or cycle:
Driving is one of the biggest causes of pollution. If you want to use your car, ask yourself the following question: do I really need my car? Walk or use your bike if the journey is a short one. - Detergent:
Follow the recommended dose of detergent to wash your clothes or dishes. - leaky faucets:
Watch leaky faucets, which can cause a significant increase in the the water bill. An average of 120 liters of water can be wasted due to a dripping faucet. - Rainwater:
Think of recovering rainwater. This water can be used for different purposes.
I use to walk to class or walk back to room almost everyday, so i can preserve the environment and exercise.
BUT
I have already paid the bus fee! so, go back by bus la...so, the bus fee won't give like free to the university. hahaha
